This style Read bolt was manufactured at the Selma Arsenal, Selma, Alabama. It
was intended for used in the 3.3-inch Confederate rifled cannon. An example of a 3.3-inch
Confederate rifled cannon is located in the Museum of the Confederacy, located in
Richmond, Virginia. Note the two wide bourrelets and the high copper sabot on this
pictured example. This variety of Read has been recovered from Selma, Alabama;
Milledgeville, Georgia; and Shiloh, Tennessee.
