US Parrott 30 pdr Shell (p. 154)

This is the long variety with the type 2 low band.  This sabot generally stayed on and was not thrown off upon firing.  It was a great improvement.  A large number of this type of Parrott projectile were fired into Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1863.  For information about the inventor, Robert P.
